Larry Howes

Electrical Engineer

Larry Howes joined LaunchPoint as Electrical Engineer in April 2008 to work on the Power Ring project. Larry brings an extensive background in electronics design and mechanical engineering, including testing, documentation, and integration of product designs into production. He has successfully designed power electronic control systems for NASA spacecraft and high-power Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). In addition, Larry is the founder and lead designer for Energy Unlimited where he specializes in state-of-the-art electric vehicle R&D. He has created an electronic motor speed controller for high power levels (250 hp) that set the world electric-powered hydroplane speed record. He also serves as a consultant and team member for major university electrical vehicle (EV) racing teams.
