John Gentry is the Director of Civil Engineering for Gravity Power, LLC, formerly known as LaunchPoint Innovations, LLC (LPI). John joined LPI, a bulk energy storage spin-off of LaunchPoint Technologies, Inc. in April 2009. John brings over 20 years of experience in project management, contract administration, civil and structural design, and field engineering on public, commercial, and industrial projects. John received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and is a Licensed Civil Engineer in the states of California and Hawaii. Prior to joining LPI, John performed structural design engineering for commercial, industrial, and residential projects throughout California at Gentry Engineering, a company he founded in 1996. In addition, he has served as Project Manager for numerous public and private projects throughout the Pacific Rim and sat as City Engineer for various cities in Northern California. John has traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Island Insular areas, administering various infrastructure improvement projects for the United States Department of the Interior, the Army Corps of Engineers, and other agencies.
