Gravity Power, LLC
Jennifer Barr is the Manager of Site Selection and Environmental Oversite for Gravity Power, LLC, formerly known as LaunchPoint Innovations, LLC (LPI). Jennifer joined LPI, a bulk energy storage spin-off of LaunchPoint Technologies Inc., in February 2009. Jennifer brings a unique combination of education and experience to this project. Her responsibilities include identification of potential sites for the project through research and investigation of site geology and the corresponding oversite of any environmental regulatory requirements.
Jennifer has an extensive background in the field of environmental remediation. Prior to joining LPI, she managed the State of Arizona’s Voluntary Remediation Program. In this capacity, Jennifer provided technical oversight, interpreted law and statute, and developed policy and guidance with respect to over 100 active remedial projects in the program. She has also worked as a geologist for environmental consulting firms in Arizona and California. Responsibilities included project management, costing, permitting, supervising and performing field investigations, technical interpretation of project site parameters, analysis of lab data, and writing technical reports for project documentation.
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Geology from San Francisco State University (SFSU). She received the Thalman Award for outstanding senior student in the SFSU Department of Geosciences. Jennifer’s thesis, “Continuation of the Serra Fault into southwest San Francisco: Constraints on Deformation on the San Francisco Peninsula” focused on the investigation of an unknown strand of a potentially active thrust fault into the City of San Francisco and the resulting uplift and sediment deformation from fault movement. Jennifer presented her thesis findings at the Geologic Society of America annual meeting.
